beats per minute. frames per second. Party in the ZKM. Under the title beat frames the various VJs are gathering for the dance of the symbols. The VJ teams sometimes perform simultaneously and cause the images, mixed live to electronic music, to interact. Their different visual languages thus communicate with one another: found footage material meets digital beauty; loop meets real time. Superimposed visual planes which change to the rhythm of the music present, with a wealth of identity-endowing images, a plethora of possible associations and chains of thought, supplying in turn subject matter for non-linear stories. The films created live by the VJs are projected onto a number of screens distributed throughout the foyer, thus encompassing the whole space and filling it with images. The audience can move between the screens and they themselves become part of the audiovisual event.
