Art historian, director of research in the department »Communication et politique« of the CNRS [Centre national de la recherche scientifique], Paris
Marie-José Mondzain's research focuses on Byzantine culture, image theory and on the analysis of contemporary art. Among her most important publications are Mensonge et image [Paris 1993], Image, icône, économie [Paris 1996] as well as Transparence, opacité? [Paris 1999].
