-------

John Lennon/Yoko Ono

*1940, died 1980 [USA]; John Lennon, member of the famous Beatles, also pursued diverse interests in everything from revolutionary politics to television talk-shows. He and his second wife, Yoko Ono, made and produced collaborative albums under the »John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine« label, often working on charitable projects. He took a break from the music business for the last five years of his life, re-entering it with the duet album Double Fantasy [with Ono] the fall before he was shot and killed on his way back from a recording session in December 1980.

*1933 [J]; Yoko Ono received her first degree in philosophy from Tokyo's Gakushin University, and went on to study philosophy and music at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She married John Lennon in 1969, working with him on various musical, artistic and political projects. As an artist, poet, performer and composer she was also responsible for the beginning of the Fluxus movement in the 60's. Her art used to involve the viewer as an active participant and deliberately ceased to distinguish itself from everyday life.
